Courtney + Eric’s glam Waldenwoods wedding was so much fun and just so emotional. Eric’s sister is my best friend, so I’ve known Eric since he was 4, which equates to me definitely telling a few stories and shedding a few tears. Also, Courtney is a Disney Princess. Not only did she work at Disney and get engaged there, but she really is that kind, sweet and happy! I loved their day. It was so perfectly them.

Plus, can we talk about Waldenwoods?! It’s the perfect wedding spot for Metro Detroiters who are really Up North people. It was just a little piece of heaven. The sunset was so amazing, that most of the guests ran outside for it. And they danced and laughed the night away. My last few moments there included Eric pulling out one of his old signature moves, The Dougie and me sober dancing with my BFF to Madonna. It was the good good. My favorite part of the day was our first look. It was so special having that quiet time before the day got crazy. We were able to talk and really just enjoy the moment. Right when I saw Eric, all of my nerves went away.

Eric’s favorite memory of the day:

By far my favorite part was the first-look. While I wasn’t sure about doing one to begin with, I’m so glad we did. With as many things as we had going on throughout the day it was nice to have some time to ourselves, just the two of us. To be able to see my beautiful bride for the first time helped me get rid of all the jitters ahead of the ceremony and truly relax. It was like time stopped just for us during all of the commotion and it’s a moment I will always cherish.

Wedding planning advice for newly engaged couples:

Don’t sweat the small stuff! Easier said than done, but it’s true. During planning, remember that it’s YOUR day! The day should reflect your personalities. Also, don’t get so caught up in all the stress and details and forget to enjoy the ride with each other. Just have fun with it!

When we both look back on our wedding day we can honestly say that we enjoyed every moment. Although the day did seem like a whirlwind, we had several moments where we got to stand back and enjoy things. We can’t thank Erin enough for pulling us away for some extra photos and quiet time throughout the night! It was so much fun seeing our vision come to life and having all of our family and close friends there to celebrate with us. We wouldn’t have changed a thing about the day.
